Storyteller – Poet – Minister

This three-fold vocation, and identity, gives shape to a life guided by Christian spirituality.

Born and raised on Kaurna land in Adelaide, South Australia, I lived for four years in Ngunnawal/Ngambri country in Canberra, and three years in Edinburgh, in the land of my Scottish ancestors.

I am once again living and working on Kaurna Land.

Performer, composer, hearer of stories – find out how to connect with me in the sacredness of story.

Graduate of Creative Writing Honours at Flinders University, author of four poetry collections, a pamphlet, audio book, and story in verse, and composer of bespoke poems live at special events – come find the Poet!

Practitioner of innovative forms of worship and church community, internationally acclaimed liturgist, proclaimer of the Sacred Story – I may be an ordained Minister of the Word in the Uniting Church, but I’m not a minister like those in days of old …

My vocation is also expressed through scholarship that explores the sacred story as we encounter and make meaning of it through storytelling, or Embodied Performance.

I also study story and storytelling more generally, and the broader art and craft of oral communication.

Responding to the Sacred Story with poetic prayers for use in personal and community devotion, Pray the Story brings the three-fold vocation dynamically together.

For six years a free weekly blog, two volumes of collected prayers from those years are available in my shop.

Pray the Story was re-launched as a subscription podcast in 2022. Although subscriptions are currently on hiatus, some free tracks and playlists are available on SoundCloud.
